GeForce FX 5700 and Video in / capture problems

I am trying to capture video footage from my vcr through the Video in port of the VGA card, I am using the adaptor suppiled and Pinacle 7 SE to capture the video and still nothing, no images.

I believe the setting on the software are correct, but would like some advice on this just in case. Also I have updated the drivers for the card from the MSI website.

So please help me, how or what is the correct to connect to the card, what software is best for capturing recorded programs, also what program(s)
can be used just to play videos on through the computer and view on the monitor.

My system spec is:

Base Board GA-8STXCFS
Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.80GHz
2 x 512MB DDR 333MHZ
NVIDIA GeForce FX 5700 256MB DDR
1 X 80GB hd
1 X 120GB HD
Creative SB Live! Series
PSU 250W
