GB Dialer

Friend of mine has acquired the GBDialer. When he goes on the internet it appears after about 5 minutes usually although sometimes he can manage longer. It dials to a £1.50 per minute porn site and drops the NTL 56K Connection. The only way to stop it is to cancel the connection.

The system is ME and we have AVG & Adaware running. I have installed Spybot and A squared but we`re unable to get the latest update files for any of these before the dialer appears.

An icon is created on the desktop called "Access Members Area.exe" and a new connection in connection manager GBDialler. Delete but they both reappear. (I have turned off system restore)

Suggestions please?

I would like to see a hijackthis log to be able to assist you.

The software here on this forum is not very good at displaying these logs, so please post at another forum which I run.

The Hijackthis program can be obtained from this downloads page :-

It has three versions available a zip, exe or self installer.

Ensure you unzip the file and place in its own folder (a folder on the desktop is OK) then run.

You can use the option to run, scan and auto save the log file. It will leave a notepad file open post that at this website, you will need to register.

Post in this room in a new topic please.

Downloaded Hijack this but will need to visit my friend to resolve. Probably tomorrow. Then I will post the log.

Anyone had specific experience of this particular dialer?

Hi Taff36,

Here's a free piece of software to stop this ever happening again once you've got rid of the malware.
Go to click here and download an antidialer which allows you to set your dial-up connection only to dial the number you have set. It blocks all others.

I use the same as griffon 56 and I have never had a problem. Any attempt at a redial comes up immediately. Hope this helps.

P.S. Spyware Blaster from click here stops about 3500 nasty things from installing themselves and runs in the background along with antidialer to help you keep your machine clean.

Yet another reason why I love my cabled broadband ! :)

If you are using a dialup modem you must contact BT and tell them to block all premium rate numbers, this is a free service.

Unforttunatly this does not block overseas premium rate numbers. To block these BT charge the princly sum of £1.90 per month.Better that than a £6000 phone bill!
