I'm just curious whether it will be better or cheaper to upgrade my Gateway 500Ls computer which has Windows 98,512 ram,32gb hard drive, Pentium 3 500 processor, CD/DVD writer and a few other bits and pieces.
I'm looking for a faster processor, Windows XP, more hard drive and generally upgrading.
My Gateway PC is now over 3 years old.
As usual I get various replies when I ask,ie. yes upgrade or no buy new !!

Are you going to build a new one upgrade your bios and chip or buy from high street

Basically, you need new mobo, PSU, CPU, Memory and perhaps graphics. The rest you have and there is no need to upgrade these (hard Drives, cd/dvd drives etc) unless you want or need to. Take the system to your local high street store and ask how much for the spec you want and see if it is worth it. THEN look on the net for cheaper prices and see if you cant find someone to fit them for you!
