Hi I have an old pc from about 2000 that I just stripped down. I was looking into whether it would be possible to build a mid range decent gaming pc that will be able to handle something like battlefield 3 medium settings with a budget of 400£, and if I can salvage anything from the pc. Definitely gonna scrap the motherboard, cpu and graphics card.

The power supply says 250W maximum output. Not sure if the lan card is compatible with todays motherboards. The tower is W175mm H350mm D370mm. motherboard was MS-6741 VER 1
Was thinking of getting something like the radeon 5770 and motherboard, amd bundle.
cheers I would appreciate any help

Have a look at these components:

Mobo:Asus M4A785TD-M EVO click here

CPU:AMD Phenom 550 click here

PSU:Storm 500 click here

RAM: Kingston 1600 click here

HDD:Deskstar 320 click here

GPU: MSI GTX 460 768MB click here which is faster than the 5770

Obviously you will need to factor in optical an optical drive and operating system , but should come in within budget.
