I am on the verge of purchasing a laptop for all things practicle, and some gaming:)

Finding an up to date laptop is proving to be difficult and so i have come across this.

Dell Volstro 1500

Components
BASE Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T8300 (2.40 GHz, 3 MB L2 cache, 800 MHz FSB)

OPERATING SYSTEM Genuine Windows® XP Professional - English

LCD 15.4" Wide Screen WXGA (1280 x 800) Display with TrueLife™

INTEGRATED WEBCAM Matte Jet Black with 2.0 mega pixel camera

MEMORY 3072MB 667MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM (1x1024 + 1x2048 MB)

HARD DRIVE 250GB (5400RPM) SATA Hard Drive

GRAPHICS CARD 256MB nVidia® GeForce® 8600M GT

OPTICAL DRIVE Fixed Internal 8X DVD+/-RW Drive

RIMARY BATTERY Primary 6-cell Lithium-Ion Battery (56 WHr)

Would this be a worthy gaming machine in todays market?

what other alternatives are there?

P.S. It comes to around £500 which i feel is very reasonable!

The specs look good, the only thing putting me off is the laptop bit,i would never play games on a laptop no matter how good it was.

check the list here and work out that the graphics probably will not cope with the most up to date games
