Hi all. Just a bit puzzled and getting quite peed of. Playing Silent Hunter III. Everything is fine until i get close to the action and watch my torpedoes blow up an enemy ship. Then i get a blue screen with alot of writing, then in a split second my machine restarts.

I play on a laptop. My spec is as follows.

AMD Athlon 64 3000
1 GB Ram
80 GB HDD
Radeon 128mb 9700
XP Home with SP2
Direct x 9.0c

It seems that the closer i get to what is going on then it crashes. Canmy system not handle so much action ?

Any comments apreciated.

Craig.

Right-click on My Computer, click Properties, click the Advanced tab. Under Startup & Recovery click Settings. Under System Failure untick the box in front of Automatically restart.

The next time it crashes you will be able to read the error message. Please post it here, preferably in full including the error codes, not just the words.

Ok, have just done that. Thanks.

It says :

PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

STOP 0x00000050

Dump Of Physical Mem

----------------------

Then when i restart and get the error reporting it says :

C:\Documents...\TEMP\wer8234.dir00\mini\ 081 405-08.dmp

Then :

the same line as above but with sysdata.xml on the end.

???

Try deleting this folder:

C:\Documents and Settings\Craig\Local Settings\WER8234.dir00

Then try running the game again.

That end folder WER8234.dir00 doesnt even exist.

Craig.

I have disabled hide folders also.

The error message points to a memory or driver failure.

Does the Blue Screen message name a file ending in .sys?

Antivirus running while playing the game can also cause this error.

The PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA is typically caused by faulty RAM (memory) or corrupt Windows drivers.

You could run a RAM test click here

If it is a driver issue, I would suspect the graphics card. Try downloading the latest drivers from the manufacturer's website. If you don't know which graphics card you have then run this click here
