I have,

2.6 GHz P4 Northwood

Gigabyte ga-8siml rev 1.0 Motherboard

1GBz DDR Ram

When i boot with HDD connected, the hdd led is constant with no boot up same with CD rom it keeps trying to boot from CD, i av diconected every prepial including CPU and Ram but no beeps, my main question is would this indicate that the board is dead, i don't think it is the prossesor as i would be getting bleeps any ideas any one ??

try removing the hard drive cable then starting and going into the bios and check the first boot device. It may need resetting to hard drive.

thanks howard

i dnt get that far, it just simply dont do anything i have tried my cpu in another motherboard and with success so i guess it is the motherboard.

wot would be the best motherboard capable of a 2.4Ghz Northwood, 2Ghz of DDR and also uses AGP at low cost on Graphics is not preferd but not an issue?

thanks again

*onboard Graphics is not essential

but if it PCI-e slot then on board is required
