Future-proof media center PC

We're planning to buy a media center PC (preferably to sit under the TV). On the assumption that we want the PC to be as future proof as possible, would we be better getting one with AMD 64 bit technology (possibly dual core), or should we be ok with Pentium? We really like the Evesham e-box, but that's Pentium 4. What about those systems that use Intel mobile processors? Any recommendations gratefully received (I want to use the system for video editing, hence the interest in dual core).

Many thanks
