FSB! is it too high?

  second best 02:28 31 Mar 03

hello, i had used 2 software programs in the past, and both suggest my FSB is too high. i have a pchips 810lmr mobo. the manual says pcchips 266, while the cd that came with it says 133. now, my athlon tbird 1.13 cpu has 133 on it somewhere. is this likely to be the cpu FSB. if so, is it possible that my board is infact 266 and this inturn is causing my cpu to run at temps of around 60 degrees????

using the same mobo.had the same concerns.the fsb is actually 133,but athlon chip runs it at 233.not a prob.my temp is around 48c.60c is nothing to worry about.

I think you will find that FSB is too high that's for XP CPU's but if it rune's OK just get some more cooling it's over clocked. What speed does it show when you start your computer

my FSB doesnt show when i sart up! but here's a thing. if i set best preformance, or optimal performance in the bios, it will automatically set my cpu to 850 instaed of 1100. this inturn brings the temp down, but is by no means a cure.

the fact of the matter is, my comp locks up all the time after 15 or more formats and 4 different o/s's in the last year. i can't track down the problem. tried bigger fans, but no improvement. tested memory, all ok. only the harddrive left. or there's a prob with the mobo. ppl have told me that my temp is way too high.

what does FSB stand for? and what does it do?

  woodchip 00:06 01 Apr 03

Set the FSB to 100 but I think it should be 66

FSB= Front Side Bus and is the internal frequency of the CPU.

60c is too high it should be around 35-40c and your FSB should be either 100 or 133MHz NO higher
