Front USB ports

I would like to add USB ports to the front of my PCs case, as its location makes getting to the back to connect devices a real pain. I would like to fit something in one of the front drive bays which I can connect to the USB header on the motherboard. However, the only devices I can find use a standard USB cable which has to be taken through the back of the case and connected to one of the rear ports. Does any one know where I can find something that will connect to the motherboard?

A USB hub in one of your rear sockets would bring access round to the side of the machine. They're cheap and cheerful from a variety of suppliers e.g. Belkin in PC World, or DABS, etc, etc.

I think a front tray is also available which plugs in to a forward mounted USB socket on your Mobo. Refer to the manual. These are available, I think, from Maplin Electronics or Overclockers and also sometimes come with a firewire socket as well. A look in the likes of Computer Buyer or Shopper might also dig up a nugget from their advertisers.

I have just fitted a USB card like the one in jaraba's link. It works a treat and I think they are better than USB hubs which don't seem to provide enough power for some hardware.

Ended up buying an internal memory-card reader from Ebay taht includes a USB 2.0 port. It connects to the USB header on the motherboard and works a treat.

One can be found here:
