Fritz WLAN with D-Link

  volpone143 09:46 15 Oct 06

Im running Win Xp Pro with Fritz WLAN 7050 modem/router on the PC, everything is running fine, then I got a D-Link USB wireless adapter DWL-G122 for the laptop. I cant install the drivers from the bundled CD nor the drivers from the web page.

In device manager under network adapters there is two entries
1. 1394 Net Adapter
2. Realtek RTL8139 Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC

and under other devices (which has a yellow question mark) theres 1 entry
1. 802.11 bg WLAN (with the yellow exclamation mark)

is there any known conflict between these two devices

any advice would be much appreciated
Thank V

well ive found another problem concerning D-Link DWL-G122
when i boot up the laptop with the dongle in the USB port the computer hangs on the windows splash screen with the blue progress bar, the only way to get into windows is to remove the USB key cold start, once its booted up I can replace the DWL-G122, unfortunatly still without any connection.

Did you follow instructions to install the drivers from the bundled CD 1st before connecting the USB adapter to your laptop?
Go to Device Manager again and uninstal the 802.11bg WLAN device.
Shut down and restart your laptop.
Double check all traces of the D-Link adapter is gone (also check Start> Control Panel> Add/Remove Programs).

Read any "Read Me" txt files in the bundled installation CD.
Usually you are best advised to install the drivers required for a WLAN USB adapter device before you try to connect it.
