Frequency of items in a list in Excel 2003

I will have a column tht contains numbers between 1 and 99. THere will be aboout 500 entries. No problem in sorting them so that all the 1's are together, all the 2's etc.

Is there any way I can get Excel to add up all the 1's and show the total, then all the 2's and so on up to the last. Eg 1 1 1 1 4 2 2 2

Why does it loose the returns? My example at the end showed four ones and the total 4 alongside the last one, then two 2's with 2 alongside etc.

You need a double return. The preview box just before submit shows you what it will look like.

You need the Count or Countif fucntions Count how often a value. That will show the number of entries equalling to your number and then if you want to add them up take that result and multiply by 2, 3, 4, etc. Pointless multiplying by 1.
