Hope there is help out there. I run Vista Home Premium. After being on the net & returning to Windows desk top I find none of the icons to open programmes will respond. However, I can use use the icon at the bottom left of screen to open Windows Internet Explorer (the up-to-date version). Have you an explanation? The only changes I have made to my PC was yesterday when I download Adobe Reader X & removed the Free McAfee software which came with it as I have Norton. Kind regards Keith

look for the "NoViewContextMenu" value
and set it to 0 in the registry.

Thank you Fruit Bat but since my first posting, on rebooting my PC all Icons have gone large & are spread across the whole desk top. Please forgive me but at 66 my knowledge is limited & have not a clue where to find "NoViewContextMenu" I hope you can help otherwise its down to my local repairer Just to confirm I run Vista Home premium Kind regards Keith

Fruit bat will come back to you... his knowledge is second to none on here, however Fruit bats link refers to a registry change. I think the key to change is that refered to under
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

If you are unsure on registry changes then it might perhaps be safer trying system restore and just going back to just before the problem occured,

Here is how to alter Icon size and if you untick "auto arrange" you can drag them where you want on the desktop.
