my computer freezes whilst it is in use and then clears itself after about 60 seconds. it seems to be when i am online although i have had the problem a couple of times when i am not using the internet. i have a broadbad connection. any ideas?

Could you give your PCs specification details, i.e. Memory, CPU, Operating system, Browser, Anti Virus etc. and maybe somebody can come up with something. As it stands any answers are going to be very vague guesses.

I was getting similar but it was my optical mouse freezing the pointer on the screen, see click here. I cleared this eventually by unistalling the mouse software and using my standby optical mouse.

my system is as follows :- windows 98se, 512 ddr ram, 1800 athlon processor, outlook express 6, avg anti virus, zone alarm, ad-aware, spybot and blueyonder 1meg broadband. my mouse stll works/moves when the problem occurs but the page sticks for between 30secs to a minute

Nothing obvious, plenty of RAM, no system hogs apparent. Try running Hijack this click here and posting a log, see if any of the experts can spot anything untoward lurking in the background.

Maybe you have a lot of temp internet files this can slow down the pages Crap Cleaner click here is a good prog for cleaning temp files from your computer.

BUMP?????????

  golfpro 09:08 07 May 05

I have had something similar twice over the last few weeks, click here everything was working fine and then the computer froze, but mine stayed like that and I had to reboot from the PC. OS XP home. I would be interested to find out if you solve this problem.

  Belatucadrus 11:59 07 May 05

" Bump " one of the generic terms used in the forum to 'bump' a posting back to the head of the list to stop it getting lost on the back pages.
In this case it's because I can't see anything untoward in your Hijack log, but am hoping somebody more into this area may have some thoughts on it.
