Freeserve Broadband

I have just gone on to Broadband with Freeserve, they supplied a Copperjet 800 modem, when I am on line, I keep getting disconnected with a message, " A network card is unplugged" even though I have not got a network card installed on my PC. I would be grateful for any advice on this.

Often ADSL devices are seen as Network Adapters, and indeed, that is where you will find them in Device Manager.

For starters, the obvious choice is to recheck any cables involved with your installation and make sure none are loose. Check everything from your telephone outlet to where it finally enters your computer.

Is it USB? USB connectors can be finicky, if it is, try a different port.
