Have you formatted it first ?

Is there any software to run first ?

Exactly which one?

What Operating system are you using?

"i cant get it to do anything" - These things usually come preformatted and should be picked up by [at least] XP .

Does it appear in 'My Computer'?

In XP or Vista click start, run and type: diskmgmt.msc and click OK.

Do you see your Hard Drive listed?

How do i do that?

sorry, these are obviouse and basic questions. I assume it's an external USB drive and in turn it has an external power supply.
is the power supply live - there should be a light on it?
is the freecom turned on - switch on the back - a blue light shining on the front?
is the USB cable supplied with the freecom connected directly to the PC - not via a hub?

If all these things are OK, is should show up!

if not go to control panel, administrative tools, computer management, disc management and see if it's there - it might need a drive letter assigning and formatting

Another obvious question. Did you connect everything first before actually turning on the mains and switch on the hdd? Could be a usb thing.
Set up the hdd including connecting to the usb port, then power on the mains and then power up the hdd.

right click select initialise / format then it should appear in My computer.
