Fragmentation is at 7.05%. Will an XP Repair be able to cure this or will I have to reformat the drive. Win xp sp2

No need for either, it's normal. Run JKDefrag if it bothers you click here

I guess you seldom ,if ever, run one of your basic computer tools called disk defragment program?

take your computer OFF line, and run disk defragment now , although it may take a while to complete

I have always run disk defragmenter, I have tried windows defrag, diskeeper lite, iobit defrag and none of them make a difference. I will try your one now brundle.

You will never get a drive that is totally clear.
7.5% is not worth bothering with. Have you run Analysis first and been told defrag is not required?

  the golfer 18:49 14 Apr 08

Analysis doesn't say the disk does not require defrag.

when you run the analysis tool what does it report?

  the golfer 19:29 14 Apr 08

p;3 Writing this from a laptop, can't remember what the analysis tool reports. At the moment I am Brundle's JK Defrag. Will post back when defrag finished.

I ran JK defrag in safe mode and it reduced to 2.2%. Thanks for the help.

You will never get 100% clear. Can you confirm the analysis question please?
