Formatting second internal hard drive

While trying to dual boot XP & Vista using my second internal hard drive for Vista, I came across a compatability problem with the Epson printer. (I think I should have disconnected the printer before installing Vista.)

However, I decided to start again from fresh, so I formatted the second drive but I did a "Quick Format" as opposed to the "Enable Compression" option.

Should I have used the compression option?

Thanks in advance for any guidance.

I don't think the format type is important. It is more likely the printer needs Vista drivers.
