In XP you just need to go into my computer and right click on the D: drive or whatever the letter the drive is and you will get the option to format, within this window you can choose the format etc of the disk following formatting.

Thanks for replys. I have now formatted and used true image to copy my c drive to my f drive and i have now changed the jumpers so my f drive is now my master as this has a 8mb buffer so should be faster. Is it possible to change the drive letters on my drives so that my master drive is a c drive?

I am now trying to format my drive c to use for data back up etc. When i right click on my drive c and click on quick format i get a message on the screen-(Windows cannot format this drive.Quit any disk utilities or other programs that are using this drive, and make sure that no window is displaying the contents of the drive. Then try formatting again) What do i need to do?
