Formatting HDD shows message :-

Checking Exhisting disk format.
Formatting 8,056M
Trying to recover allocation uni 1,084,..

This line which says:-
Trying to recover Allocation Unit is the part I am a bit concerend about.

The nubmer is slowly counting upwards but has been for a few hours now.

Is thiss a damaged corrupt HDD, or is it ref my other post where the BIOS being dated 1997 doesn't recognise the Full HDD and only shows it as 518MB where I think it should be 4Gb or 8GB

Woodchip & DiSsie have being following my older post.

Really stuck with what to do.
Is this a dodgy M/baord, HDD virus ?.

Help please, back later to see if anyone can help.

this problem is sorted out. I had my doubts about the HDD and it is old/second hand lying around.
