Formatting Discs in NTFS from broken NAS sytems

I have a disc, 320GB, from a D-Link NAS that packed up. My PC will not recognise it, I guess it is formatted in a UNIX type system. Is there any software that will do the job - NOT LINUX etc PLEASE.

Question1- does the Cmos recognise the disk?
if yes
Question2- have you checked the jumper settings?

The disc is a SATA disc and there appear to be no PATA type Master/Slave etc Jumpers.
I was using a new Coolermaster X Craft Enclosure and haven't tried putting the disc into a PC. I might try the eSATA ports on the back of the PC which may be more "direct" than USB (I hope they work though). The enclosure works well with a spare small capacity disc that I had.
