Hello all, I have a Hitachi 1.0 TB external hardrive connected to a USB port on my pc. I run the 64bit version of Windows 7. The drive only shows as 512Gb. If I try to reformat it the 512Gb is the only option available. How can I get the full 1.0 TB please?

All the tools you need are on your computer. From control pannel open the system and scroll down find the disc management consul. open this and it will show all the installed drives. select your usb drive and follow the instructions, you can use this to decide what partions, size, to creat and Format

Hi Sharpamat. Thanks for the information. Problem solved. For some reason the drive was partitioned into two equal parts, with one being unused. Thanks again.
