formating a laptop

i have just got a dell pci266 laptop (not the fastest in the world but good enough for my needs) it has win 2000 installed but for security and piece of mind i would like to format the hdd and reinstall win2000..there are no dell instalation discs but i have a genuine win200 disc how do i go about formating the hdd i have upgraded from windows 98 to xp on a computer but never on a laptop is it the same (put in disc then delete partition/format/install) or would i need the dell discs..there are drivers on dells site but no info on how to format..any help please..thanks in advance

I bought a second user dell c600 last year for my son and loaded a OEM XP home on to it by just inserting the disc turning it on and following the instructions on screen, don't know if this helps any

put in disc then delete partition/format/install

no need to delete the partion just format it. and install win2000

click here and back up and copy your drivers to a disk 1st.
