format laptop

Sorry, I know this has been posted umpteen times, but the search function isn't working. Daughters laptop (Evesham) becomming very slow to do everything. I've run CCleaner, Spybot, Defrag etc and cut down on the number of progs that start with boot-up. I think the time has come to reformat the hard drive. The machine came with a CD labelled 'Product recovery CD-ROM - Windows Home Edition', unlike the full XP CD that came with my Evesham PC. Can I reformat using this disc, and if so, how? Thanks and a Merry Christmas to all.

Backup any data, then insert the recovery disc and reboot, follow the onscreen prompts.
Then visit Microsoft and fully update the system.
Obviously you will have to reload all your programs...Av/Firewall/etc..

Thanks skidzy - I'll give it a go
