I would like to keep all my window's and program files which are located on my c:\ drive

How do i format my d:\ drive and will it leave my c:\ intact?

What version of windows?

XP
My computer
Right click D: drive - selet format from the drop down menu.

Windows will not let you format the drive that windows is on so you will not lose your operating system.

Make sure you have everthing you want off the drive before formatting.

It says that it cannot format the drive. it says quit any disk utilities or anything displaying the contents. the only thing i have running is mcafee security
