i have formated a c: drive on an old computer but the computer will not run the cd to re load windows 95.
at the command prompt i just get D:> everything i put in just gives bad command. i have tried start,startup,run,setup,win95,win,windows etc etc with no joy
a:> works fine
c:> dir shows some files left on my hard drive
d:> dir shows one file ~mssetup
any suggestions

Does the boot up disc not install a virtual device and this is d: and the CD-ROM drive becomes e:

Some 95 Start up disks do not load up the CD drivers.Look for perhaps a 98 start up disk!?

Also try E:setup or e:win
