Is there any way I can place foreign characters (like french e acute etc) in e mails in Outlook Express?

When typing use the relevant ascii code

eg é is typed by holding the alt key and typing 130 on the numberic keypad.

Pick the character you need from the Character Map (Start/ All Programs/ Accessories/ System Tools/ Character Map)

Many thanks folks - I had forgotten that the numbers had to be on the keypad and not the top row - particlular thanks to DS for that memory jog. Job done good start to the new year so seasons greetings with my thanks

For á,é,í,ó and ú, hold Alt Gr whilst typing the appropriate letter, e.g. Alt Gr + A/a = Á/á

I use Allchars from click here - a small utility that does all you'd ever want (and probably a bit more tbh)
