Font Management - a full printout?

I have a fairly large collection of fonts. To improve system performance I do not keep them all installed all of the time. I would like to be able to print off a sample of each (just one line for each - the name of the font and then a sample string) so that I can keep them for reference. But - the fonts are not installed in the system fonts folder so I need a way to specify which folder the fonts should be printed from. Can anyone advise of any software (preferably freeware!) that will let me do this?
