Folder Access Denied

I recently downloaded updates from Microsoft which corrupted my hard-drive. The PC wouldn't boot-up nor would it go into safe mode. Having a second hard-drive on the machine i decided to reload XP onto that; in the hope that I could access the original hard-drive. XP has now called the new drive the C: drive and the old corrupted drve D: So far so good. Unfortunately I've tried to access my folder to retrieve Invoices and pictures but keep getting the message "Folder Access Denied". I'm the Administrator and I presume because the old account had a password, I can't get access. It doesn't even give me the option to input the old password! I don't know what to do. I spoke to Microsoft about this, and they said they'll talk me through the problem in exchange for a large sum of cash.Nice. Can anybody help?
