floppy drive troubles

  alan227 14:27 20 Aug 05

I have a shuttle which I have just put a floppy drive in, the drive doesw not power up when it is switched on, but if I turn the ribbon cable the other way round the light on the floppy comes on permantly ( which says that the ribbon cable is in the wrong way.)
So by putting the ribbon cable in the wrong way it shows their is power getting to it, but put it in the right way and nothing.

Has any one got any ideas on this, as it has me baffled.
The drive is brand new.

Please define power up.

Does it not read a disk when entered.
Whats your Bios boot up order, is it set to read floppy's.

Does the green light flicker on on main boot up.

Does your bios detect the floppy.

Will respond further if you can give further info.

Power on - when I press the on button.
Bios boot order - HD/DVDRW/Floppy.
The green light does not flicker on main boot.
Bios does not detect floppy even though the FDC is enabled.

Pops - It is working now, all it required was to select the 1.44mb option in the standard features, I checked everything but that.
I shall now go and bang my head against a wall

I shall now go and bang my head against a wall

A common action amongst those of us who do this full time even ;-))
