floppy drive not working

hi, can anyone help, my floppy drive will not read or write. It shows up in the cmos and all drivers r installed. It just keeps saying the disk is not formated, but iv tried many disks which i know have stuff on them.

Im running win 98SE

pcfranco, have you checked the cables inside the computer to see that they have not worked loose.If you have to get a new floppy drive they only cost about £7 or £8. Paddy

Have you tried removing it in Device Manager then restart your computer so windows will reset it back up then retry

PCAdvisor Mag this month as an article dealing with the problem but if it worked before you may have got corrupt files. You could run SFC from the start/run box and check, you will need your win98 cd in the comp. or reinstall win98 over it's self

try this start in safe mode then try floppy disc
