Floppy Drive not Acknowledging Disk Presence

  liserini 10:47 06 Dec 04

I have tried to use my floppy drive after my PC was returned from being repaired and I had to reinstall everything myself. The drive is not acknowledging a disk has been inserted. The drive is known to be present on the PC and the device manager says it is working properley. I have tried more than one disk, all of which I know to be functional having been used a different computer in the same week. Can anyone think of anything that might be causing this?

Try reseating the ribbon connector at both the drive and the motherboard ends. If this doesn't help, then the most likely cause is a failed drive. At under £5 this is one of the easiest things to try first click here

I did at the floppy drive end, but not the Motherboard (doh!), so will try that this evening.
