Have just changed my motherboard to a jetway 266b and now on the bios screen I get an error message for the floppy disk.
"Floppy Disk error (40)" anybody there to help?
No lights or action from the floppy at all tried connections on another unit no problem.Does this mean replacing the Floppy?

Check the cable is fitted correctly - connector on the end near the twist in the cable to the floppy - connector at the other end to the motherboard (do not use the middle connector).

It's vital that pin1 on the cable goes to pin1 on the connector at both ends.

It could be a faulty cable.

Check the BIOS is set to the correct type of floppy drive 3.5" 1.44 Mb

It may be a faulty motherboard.

on the Drives pins ?.

Check the Red line is facing away from the Power source or the otherway round. Red line on edge of ribbon cable must be to pin 1 on motherboard.

Have you got the Floppy drive enabled as Boot device and selceted as 1.44MB 3.5" drive.

Change the cables round when machine is off.

Many thanks guys but having hooked it the m/board to another pc and the floppy booted up I think its going to be a replacement drive.
