It is a 1.44MB floppy after it's formatted. You can't use it without formatting.

If you need to fit a 2 MB file on it, zip the file first click here

if i go into properties it shows as a 1.44 mb.but how can that be when i know it is 2.0

It doesn't hold 2MB of data, phild, it only holds 1.44MB.

No floppy is a 2.0 MB. They are ALL 1.44 MB (despite what it says on the box / disk)

I can't remember why they marked it as 2.0 MB but believe us - you will NOT get more than 1.44 MB on it under Windows.

Is it 2 Mb under Mac???

All floppy disks are

1.44MB capacity formatted

2.0MB unformatted

As you HAVE to format the disk first they will ALWAYS be 1.44mb..

I remember receiving a 2MB floppy at work a few years ago. I can't remember what machine it was written on but it was not a PC as we know it. We (and I include the IT dept in that but that's not saying much) could not read the disk in any of our machines.

Got the guy to resend it on a 1.44 ...

Get another floppy and get The File Splitter click here works every time for me, and you can choose what size you want the bits splitting into.

I've broken a 14 MB file down into 2 MB chunks to send over the internet, very useful.

Alternatively use WinZip (or equivalent) to span across floppies.
