I constantly get a message asking me if I want to install Flash Player. Do I need it and more to the point what is it?.

It's an add on which enables you to view certain types of animated/movie clip type web pages. I would say yes, you do need it. Assuming it's the Macromedia Flash Player, it's safe.

Macromedia Flash is a small application which works with Internet Explorer and other internet browsers. It allows moving images, sound, 'flash' animations and games to be played using your Intrnet browser.

I'd install it, no harm can be done.

Hope this helps :)

OK now you have downloaded it you may find it sometimes intrusive. If you dowload (free) spywareblaster it has the facility to stop flashplayer until you need it again. As far as I know spywareblaster causes no conflicts and sits in the background quietly doing its job of stopping spyware getting to your PC.
