Flash Drive

Recently, when trying to disconnect my ByteStor USB 2.0 Flash Drive, I've been getting the following message:

"The device ‘Generic volume’ cannot be stopped right now. Try stopping the device again later."

That normally occurs when something on the drive is still in use - although mine will occasionally do this even with evrything closed.

On these occasions I have pulled the drive with no consequence

Yes this is a protectie device to prevent loss of data/damage when the drive is 'active'
Trouble is Winders thinks is doing something when it is not or even is doing something when you think it should not be.
Just another Windoze quirk

At wrok I inevitably get that error message (W2000) so I just unplug after allowing enough time to complete the read or write. The same flash drives work correctly both on my personal laptop and on my desktop.
