Flash bios to remedy bsod?

  Dalglish2 21:39 10 Oct 10

I've had my windows xp desktop repaired (sp3) and is now giving a Bsod especially when my iPhone is synced to iTunes. I believe a USB 2.0 upgrade was done when.
My question is should I flash my bios which seems from Internet posts to be a remedy for this bsod? If so, how do I do this safely?
Many thanks

BIOS flash is always last resort as a failed flash turns the machine into a door stop.

What error message on BSOD?

This Stop error indicates that requested data was not in memory.
The system generates an exception error when using a reference to an invalid system memory address.

Defective memory (including main memory, L2 RAM cache, video RAM)
or incompatible software (including remote control and antivirus software) might cause this Stop error.
