hi all i have just uninstalled linux for various reasons but last time i did this on my pc to uninstall the linux bootloader i just put my winxp pro disk in booted from it and in the recovery console typed fix/mbr or something like that.
i now have a laptop with only a recovery disk, how can i get into the recovery console as my recovery disk doesnt seem to have it. if not how can i fix the master boot loader.

thanks

The simplest way to repair or re-create MBR is to run Microsoft's standard utility called FDISK with a parameter /MBR, like

A:\> FDISK.EXE /MBR

You can get a boot disk for most OS's from click here

Ultimate boot CD has a range of tools that run from CD.It creates a "virtual floppy" drive so you could perhaps use it. click here

You could try borrowing an XP CD that does have the recovery console on it.
