i have managed to get hold of a fully tested hard drive for the dead one. Only question now.... how do I go about fitting it? Does anyone have any pointers where I can find a good easy step by step guide? TIA

Most models have the Hard Drive accessable on the left side, held by two screws. Just unscrew the 2 screws and slide it out. There are several more screws holding the Hard Drive into its cradle. As far as jumpers, you will not need to worry about any jumpers in this scenerio. The IDE connection/ cable takes up all the pins. Thats it. Hope I was some help to you. Good luck
