So I decided to try my hand at building a games system for my son. I have a fair bit of experience upgrading etc. Purchased a winfast 760gxk8mc mother board with 512mg ram and amd processor. Used the hdd from the old machine. Wired it all up and it boots upto the window loader screen then there is a flash of a blue screen and it reboots. I have tried everthing, removing cards, reseating cards and ram. It will boot in safe mode but thats it. Can anyone help?

In Safe Mode right-click on My Computer, click Properties, click the Advanced tab. Under Startup & Recovery click Settings. Under System Failure untick the box in front of Automatically restart.

Try to start it again - what is the error code and message?

Did you reinstall Windows (or at least do a repair install)?

If not you are probably having trouble with the drivers from the old system conflicting with the new motherboard.

What version of Windows are you using?

Hi, I havent re-installed windows. I thought it might be some sort of driver conflict. Will try and get the error code and re post asap.
Thanks for your help so far

How do you do a repair install? is it just a case of re-installing XP over the existing OS?

Have you got a full Windows XP disc?

No, the windows install is the standard xp home install on a dell computer so no full disk. I rang them to see if they would send me something but no luck.
