Firewire-IEEE 1394 Host Controller.

My brother has a HP Pavilion 7965 bought 2years ago from PC World. When it boots up he recieves the following message:-

Resource conflict PCI serial bus controller in slot 03
Bus:00, Device:0f, Function:00
Press F1> to setup, F2> to resume

Everything loads ok after pressing F2 but the device manager reports a code 10 fault, this device is not working because it has a fault. He's tried removing and reinstalling but it doesn't work. He doesn't actually use the firewire port but would like to resolve this conflict so he doesn't have to press F2 when he boots up.
Running WIN'XP Home, Athlon XP1800+, 256MB ram.
Firewire is by Texas Instruments.
Any ideas?

If it's an inbuilt port integral in the motherboard, it's probably possible to disable it in the BIOS.

If it's a separate card, remove it from device manager and remove the card from the machine.

Then see if the problem still exists. If it does, it's almost certainly a registry entry that's causing the problem and would require further investigation.
