Firewire Cards

Are they important to have on your machine.
What do they actually do ??.

Firewire is another type of communication socket which is faster than the common parallel, serial, and USB sockets -- it is normally used for connecting a camera for downloading the pictures.

It's really only important if you have devices that need it: Printers, scanners, etc. generally run off the USB socket these days and their speed is generally dictated by the speed of the device itself, not the connection to the computer.
