Have a new pc but no firewire connection. Am thinking of getting new camcorder.
How easy is it to put firewire in to pc?
Is it worth it if camcorder has usb?

The USB on camcorders is usually for the digital still images which tend to be piss poor on digital camcorders anyway. You can buy a firewire card for circa £30 and considering that you have a new PC It should see the card immediately. This will allow you to practice your video capture and editing. You can use Windows Movie Maker but for high quality end results I would suggest you look at Pinnacle products and perhaps Adobe Premier.

If your camcorder has a USB2 connection then there is no need for firewire. USB2 works faster than firewire (480Mbs vs 400Mbs), is cheaper to set up and much more widely used.

If your new PC doesn't have USB2 connectors already installed then I suggest you get a USB2 PCI card anyway.
