Firefox won't download pdf files

I can't get Firefox to download pdf files, which IE does with no difficulty. I have looked at the Tools menu and 'allowed' the sites concerned to load pop-ups, but this doesn't help. In the Downloads menu I notice that pdf files don't appear in the list of 'View and Edit Actions' files, but I can't see any way of adding the pdf extension. It's annoying to have to revert to IE whenever I want to download a pdf, so what do I need to do?

westwit,

I think file types only appear in that menu if you have a plug-in. You should still get the "Open with" or "Save to disk" options when you click on the file to download it.

Felix

Thanks. Octal's pdf extension download has done the trick.

I have Firefox and have no difficulty downloading .pdf files; although I have Adobe Reader 7 I use FoxitReader as my default.

It's a small 1.2MB download from:
