Firefox v OE

I have both these two mail programs. Obviously, whichever one I open first will download my waiting e-mails. All well and good. But how is it that I can send e-mails in OE but not in Firefox - I used to be able to. It gives the usual "consult ISP" message, when I try to transmit.
Can anyone help?

Thunderbird is what you are after. Firefox is a browser

I meant Thunderbird

You might have selected OE as the default e-mail client; try importing OE's configuration into Thunderbird again from Tools>Import (slightly different way than Firefox).

Also check XP's Set Program Access and Defaults for the configuration and access settings.

Are you sending messages via your own ISP's smtp?

Stuartli - I did as you suggested - but it still refuses to send messages in Thunderbird
