Can anybody post some of the main causes of slow start up with these two clients?
Sometimes Firefox - which is the main culprit - can take up to 10 seconds.
Any ideas appreciated.
Cheers,
Ed

generally, its because of just having a slow pc. I used to have this problem on my old pc but that was just because it was only 333Mhz

Is Firefox your default browser?

I remember when I first tried Firefox I didn't have it set as default, it was slow to open.
When I decided I liked it, I set it as default and noticed that it opened much faster.

As in my first post above, 10 seconds for Firefox.

I have same problem, slow to start - also slow to render webpages: have done all the things suggested on their site to try to speed it up. Opera is much faster.

Have you changed the theme being used? I have found that some themes can cause it to slow quite a bit and have just left it with the default theme.

djwheeler,
I tried the themes - changing and reverting to default. Not much change there, perhaps a little faster, but that could just be from ram.
I'll call this resolved.
Thanks all.
