Firefox progress bar never completed

Just a minor irritation, but when visiting a web page in Firefox, once the blue progress bar at the bottom right of my screen reaches full length (or nearly), it stays there and never disappears. It makes it hard to be sure when the page is fully downloaded.
Is this normal? If not, can I fix it?

Forgot to say Internet Explorer's progress bar still disappears when complete (just checked it), so it's just Firefox. My OS is Win98SE.

I would just reinstall FF,quickest route polymath. If this still happens, post back.

Sorry, but the bar's now disappearing properly once complete, starting with posting the last remark. So it's just resolved itself after months, though I'm still baffled. Does this forum have magical properties?

Thanks skidsy - I'll do that if the fault returns.
