Firefox problems

I've had Firefox installed for several months now. It's good, but it won't update when a Firefox security update comes out - I can leave it for a few hours updating, but it never finishes. Instead, I have to uninstall it and install the latest version. Also, it won't download plugins such as Flash - again it just sits there for hours claiming it's getting the Flash download but never finishes. I've used Firefox on other PCs without these problems.

Removing Firefox didn't help, but a clean re-install of XP did. There were other problems with other programmes too, and XP would not shut down. Things were gradually getting worse, so I finally decided to do a re-install. I think that it was an XP problem rather than a Firefox problem. Firefox is now working well.
