Fire wire & video editing (compatability)

  tramp007 19:51 10 Jun 03

I have just purchased a Sony DCRTRV250 and about to get Uleads Studio 7 for video Editing.

Can anyone recommend a fire wire ( not too costly) and is it easy to install myself - or should i take to a proffesional?

Is it a firewire PCI (host) card you're after?

If yes click here and search for product # TJ65V

Dead easy to fit if you have a spare PCI slot

I use the TRV130E and get excellent results - I bought my firewire card at the same time as the camcorder and persuaded them to "throw" the card in for free!

As pops says "dead easy to fit"

Happy snapping

According to the Maplin website, it costs around £40. I've seen firewire cards elsewhere for much less. Do you think they would be OK?

I'm sorry, I've misled you.

I was in a hurry last night and put down the first source that I had. Try click here and look for product # LN2576. This cost £18.80 INC but there is carriage on top (the Maplin includes carriage).

I bought a AT&T Lucent IEEE 1394 firewire controller from my local PC shop for £20. It came with a 6pin to 4 pin cable and pinnicle studio s.e. 8.4 software.

It works great, just pluged in the card. Windows detected it and loaded the drivers.
