Fire wire. Can I buy a two into one adaptor?

I have a single fire-wire port on my laptop, I would like to connect an external HDD & an external DVD burner at the same time. Is it possible as I only have USB1 ports which are too slow for these add-ons.

I think if it were at all possible you would effectively halve the speed of the port. I've never heard of a firewire hub, but someone else may be able to point you in that direction.

you can do this via a pcmcia card provided you have a slot on the laptop and very cheaply too click here

Yes it is possible. I have a 4 port Belkin firewire hub.Bought in a sale at PCWorld for £9.00 was oroginally £34.00. I have not noticed and drop in speed.
